Tuning Calculator — Alternative Tuning Systems
Calculate frequencies for alternative tuning systems. A4 reference pitch adjustment.
How We Calculate This
Equal Temperament
f = A4 × 2^(n/12) where n = semitones from A4
Just Intonation
Uses whole-number frequency ratios from the root: unison (1:1), major 2nd (9:8), major 3rd (5:4), perfect 4th (4:3), perfect 5th (3:2), etc.
Cents Deviation
Cents = 1200 × log2(f_alt / f_equal)
100 cents = 1 semitone. Deviations under 5 cents are generally imperceptible.
