Power Consumption Calculator — Studio Equipment Load

Calculate total power draw of studio equipment and required circuit capacity.

How We Calculate This

Total Power Draw

Total Watts = Sum of all equipment wattages

Current Draw

Amps = Watts / Voltage

UK mains voltage is 230V nominal. A standard UK 13A socket can supply up to 230 × 13 = 2,990W (~3kW).

This assumes a unity power factor (PF = 1), which is an optimistic estimate. Real studio gear uses switched-mode power supplies with a power factor of roughly 0.6–0.95, so true RMS line current can be slightly higher than Watts / Voltage. For loads with a known power factor, divide again by PF: Amps = Watts / (Voltage × PF).

Annual Energy

kWh/year = (Watts / 1000) × hours/day × days/year

Days per year defaults to 365 and can be adjusted under Advanced Options.
